SUMMARY:The 9th Asian Privacy Scholars Network (APSN) Conference
DESCRIPTION:Dialogue Between International Law and Comparative Law in Data Governance\nThe 9th Annual Conference of the Asian Privacy Scholars Network (APSN) will be held at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU)\, Hsinchu\, Taiwan from August 15 to 16\, 2024. The conference is held collaboratively by NTHU\, Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law (SMU Law)\, and the American Society of International Law (ASIL)’s International Law & Technology Interest Group. \nThe 2024 conference focuses on the interplay between international law and comparative law in the context of data governance in the Asia-Pacific region. We invite original\, unpublished abstracts including but not limited to these topics: \n\nLaws and policies of data collection\, storage\, sharing\, and analysis and their implications.\nThe intricate balance of data protection\, privacy\, free speech\, reputation\, and platform governance within domestic legal frameworks.\nImplications of international trade and/or human rights agreements on domestic realms of privacy\, data protection\, content moderation\, platform governance\, and AI governance.\nData localization strategies and laws.\nRegulatory approaches on harmful online content\, hate speech\, and mis/disinformation.\nComparative insights into data governance models across Asia-Pacific nations.\nOther relevant discussions at the intersection of constitutional and administrative law\, international or transnational law\, comparative law\, and the evolving landscape of data governance.\n\nAbstracts are accepted until January 15\, 2024\, with selected works being considered for publication.
